Why take this course?

With the explosion of digital photography in the past decade, everyone wants to share the images they've been creating. While scrapbooking is still popular, and there are many online photo sharing sites, more and more people want to share their images in some form of multimedia presentation, whether it be on a DVD, or streaming web video on popular online sites like YouTube.

Can you spare a few hours on a Saturday? Learn animatography! the new way of sharing your photos with family and friends (or what some will call digital slideshows)

Digital slideshows can be a dramatic and impressive way of sharing your photography with family, friends, clubs, and the workplace using home made DVDs, PC video and even with global audiences via such websites as YouTube. Slideshows are no longer static images flashing up on the wall. Today's shows add motion and visual effects to your images, and combined with music and sound effects, they become an entertaining production.

There are many courses available on how to use a particular software application, but this course is a little different. Not only do you learn how to use software, we also help improve your story telling skills using your own photographs. You learn to engage your audience's minds as well as their eyes.

This course provides you with "tools" needed to create great shows, to put the "story" in your presentations. We use techniques adapted from screen and play writing traditions for assembling your story. You learn to understand the effect your image and sound treatments have on your audience.

The course is broken into 2 days.

Day 1: Slide show physiology -- learn the mechanics of putting a slideshow together. This session is about workflow and learning to use the slide show software (Photodex's ProShow Gold)

Day 2: Slide show psychology -- learn the psychological side of creating a slideshow. This session is more about story telling and how you treat your images can affect your audience. We also discuss some of the various ways you can share your shows and how that affects your show's content.
